Satcom Technology Ltd Launches its New Pallet Tracking System
Satcom have designed a tracking unit that can track pallets or parcels even when loaded inside a trailer. The system utilises both GPS and GSM positioning with the GSM tracking being an advance form of cellular triangulation. The tracking system has its own battery system and can be placed onto a pallet which can then be tracked across the world operating for several days or even weeks or months depending on client requirements. The idea for this is to track high value goods in transit. This unit can be placed on a pallet of computers, pharmaceuticals, game consoles etc and if stolen can be tracked.
Major UK Bank Test Satcom ATM Tracking Solution
Following a recent increase in attacks to remote ATM’s Satcom Technology Ltd were invited to carry out testing of its tracking system to counter the types of attacks being seen on ATM sites.
The two main forms of attack have been either a frontal attack, or the removal of the ATM machine from the Bunker or the branch premises, this is typically achieved by the use of a JCB type vehicle that would breach the outer wall and lift the complete ATM onto the back of a waiting truck which is then taken and worked on in a different location.
The objective of the testing process was to be able to evaluate both the installation and operation of the tracking device on the ATM. The suppliers were invited to attend facilities in a UK location to carry out the installation of the tracking unit to an ATM machine provided. This included the installation, battery life, inputs /outputs.
Once the installation had been completed the ATM was lifted up via a forklift truck and then dropped to ensure the tracking unit withstood the force of a heavy impact. The ATM’s were then loaded onto a van and were driven around the local area whilst being tracked.
